Verdad, realidad, fidelidad; la verdad divina, sinceridad y aquello que concuerda con los hechos frente a la falsedad
Ἀλήθεια abarca la verdad tanto como cualidad moral como realidad ontológica. En los Sinópticos aparece frecuentemente en expresiones como «en verdad» (ἐπ᾽ ἀληθείας, Mc 12:14), afirmando el habla honesta o la fidelidad divina. En los escritos joánicos adquiere una dimensión marcadamente teológica: Jesús se declara a sí mismo «la verdad» (Jn 14:6) y el Espíritu es llamado «el Espíritu de verdad». Pablo la emplea para referirse al mensaje del evangelio y a la integridad personal. Las traducciones en todas las lenguas principales la vierten con cognados de 'verdad', lo cual refleja la claridad transcultural del concepto.
