Ungir; frotar o aplicar aceite, ungento o perfume sobre el cuerpo, la cabeza o los pies de una persona por hospitalidad, sanidad o sepultura.
A diferencia del verbo chrio, cargado de connotaciones teologicas y mesianicas, aleipho designa el acto cotidiano y fisico de frotar aceite o perfume sobre alguien. Aparece en contextos de aseo personal (Mt 6:17, donde Jesus dice que unjas tu cabeza al ayunar), actos de devocion y hospitalidad (Lc 7:38, 46, donde una mujer unge los pies de Jesus), ministerio de sanidad (Mr 6:13; Stg 5:14, ungir con aceite a los enfermos), y preparacion para la sepultura (Mr 16:1). El termino espanol 'ungir' conserva bien este sentido concreto y tactil de aplicar una sustancia sobre el cuerpo, distinguiendolo de la consagracion ceremonial.
