Agrippa — Herod Agrippa II, the last Herodian king, before whom Paul made his defense in Caesarea
Ἀγρίππας (Agrippas) in the New Testament refers exclusively to Herod Agrippa II, great-grandson of Herod the Great and the last ruler of the Herodian dynasty. He appears in Acts 25–26, arriving in Caesarea with his sister Bernice to pay respects to the new governor Festus. Paul seizes the audience as an opportunity for a full defense of his conversion and apostolic mission (Acts 26:1-29). Agrippa's famous response — 'In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian' (Acts 26:28) — has echoed through centuries of preaching. Spanish 'Agripa' and French 'Agrippa' both transliterate directly from the Latin-Greek form.
