† [רָדַד] vb. beat out, fig. beat down, subdue (NH Pi. stamp or beat down, make flat, spread out; 𝔗 רְדַד beat out; cf. prob. Arabic رَدَّ repel, reject (NöM 75); Assyrian radâdu is pursue (rare));—Qal, fig., beat down: Inf. cstr. לְרַד לְפָנָיו גּוֹיִם Is 45:1; Pt. act. הָרוֹדֵד עַמִּי תַּחְתָּ֑י ψ 144:2;—so also Impf. יָרֹד Is 41:2 acc. Ew al. (for MT יַרְדְּ, v. I. רדה Hiph.).—Ju 19:11 read יָרַד. Hiph. lit. beat out: Impf. 3 ms. וַיָּ֫רֶד עַל־הַכְּרוּבִים … אֶת־הַזָּהָב 1 K 6:32 and beat out the gold upon the cherubim (covered them with beaten gold).
† [צָנַח] vb. descend (meaning inferred from context);— Qal Impf. 3 fs. וַתִּצְנַח מֵעַל הַחֲמוֹר Ju 1:14 = Jos 15:18 and she descended (alighted) from the ass; וַתּ׳ בָּאָרֶץ Ju 4:21 and it (the tentpeg) went down into the ground.
