Hundirse, sumergirse, aplacarse; en Hiphil, hacer hundirse o asentar.
Un verbo que describe movimiento descendente hacia una superficie o medio: hundirse, aplacarse, extinguirse. En sus formas Qal y Nifal, retrata el fuego que se apaga (Núm 11:2) o la tierra que se hunde como la llanura aluvial del Nilo (Amós 8:8; 9:5). Jeremías lo emplea memorablemente para Babilonia hundiéndose como una piedra en el agua (Jer 51:64). El Hiphil causativo aparece cuando Dios aplaca las aguas de Egipto (Ezeq 32:14) y presiona la lengua del Leviatán (Job 41:1).
