Shinab; personal name of a king of Admah who fought in the Valley of Siddim alongside other Canaanite kings
Shinab was king of Admah, one of the cities of the plain mentioned in Genesis 14. He appears in the narrative of the battle of the kings, where he and his allies fought against the eastern coalition led by Chedorlaomer. Admah would later be destroyed along with Sodom and Gomorrah (Deuteronomy 29:23), making Shinab one of the rulers of the doomed cities. His name is preserved in the biblical record as part of the historical backdrop to Abraham's rescue of Lot.
