Shemiramoth; a Levitical name meaning perhaps 'heights of heaven'
Shemiramoth is a personal name borne by at least two Levites in the Old Testament. According to the Thesaurus, the name may mean 'heights' or 'name of the heights,' perhaps referencing the heavens. One Shemiramoth served as a musician in David's procession when the ark was brought to Jerusalem (1 Chr 15:18, 20; 16:5), and another was a teaching Levite sent by King Jehoshaphat to instruct the people (2 Chr 17:8). The LXX renders it Σαμειραμωθ.
