Shimeah was a member of the tribe of Benjamin, appearing in the Chronicler's genealogies. The name occurs in a variant form of a genealogical list that appears twice in Chronicles with minor spelling variations—here as Shimeah, elsewhere as Shimeam. He appears to be descended from Saul's line, part of the genealogies tracing Benjamin's prominent families. The name possibly means 'the LORD has heard,' sharing a root with Samuel and Ishmael. Like many individuals in these genealogical records, we know him only through his placement in Benjamin's family structure.
