satiety, fullness

Senses
1. satiety, fullness Feminine noun denoting satiety or the state of being sated, used both of physical food-satisfaction and of spiritual/moral excess. Of food: eating to satiety (le-sov'ah) in Isa 23:18, Isa 55:2, Ezek 39:19, and Hag 1:6; the gluttonous dogs that 'know no satisfaction' (sov'ah) in Isa 56:11. Of moral surfeit: 'the satiety (siv'at) of bread' as one of Sodom's sins (Ezek 16:49), and being satisfied/sated (sov'atekh) in Ezek 16:28 referring to Jerusalem's insatiable spiritual adultery. Arabic uses shiba' (satiety) consistently; Korean uses bae-bu-reu-ge (to fullness) for literal food and man-jok (satisfaction) for the abstract; Hindi uses tript/tripti (satiety) throughout. This feminine form (H7654) is a near-synonym of the masculine sova' (H7648), both from the root s-b-' meaning 'to be full/satisfied.'
