1. satiety, fullness, abundance — The state of being fully satisfied or having abundance, especially with regard to food but also used metaphorically. In its literal food-related usage: eating bread 'to satisfaction' (la-sova') in Exod 16:3, Lev 25:19, 26:5; eating grapes 'to your fill' (sov'ekha) in Deut 23:24; Naomi returning from Moab and Ruth's satisfaction (Ruth 2:18); and God providing food to satisfaction (Ps 78:25). In its metaphorical/spiritual usage: 'fullness of joys' (sova' semachot) at God's right hand (Ps 16:11), and the righteous eating 'to the satisfying of his soul' (Prov 13:25). Arabic consistently uses li-sh-shiba'i (for satiety); Korean uses bae-bu-reu-ge (to be full-bellied) for literal food contexts but chung-man-han (fullness/abundance) for the metaphorical Ps 16:11 usage; Hindi uses tript (satisfied) across contexts. The construct and suffixed forms (your fill, her satisfaction, satisfying of) are inflectional variants of the same noun. 8×
