Senses
1. rise up, be exalted — To rise up or be lifted high, a by-form of rum (H7311) meaning to be exalted. Used of waves rising in Ezekiel's storm theophany (Ezek 10:15, 10:17, 10:19, arb irtafa'at/tartafi', kor 'ollagatta', spa 'se elevaron') and of the wicked being exalted briefly before being cut down (Job 24:24, arb irtafa'u, kor 'nopajyeottaga', spa 'se elevan'). The Piel participle describes Yahweh's right hand as 'exalted' (Ps 118:16, arb murtafi'ah, deu 'ist erhoeht', spa 'esta exaltada'). All languages consistently render with 'rise/exalt' vocabulary. 5×

2. get away, withdraw — Niphal imperative used as a command to separate or withdraw from dangerous proximity, specifically in Num 16:45 where Moses and Aaron are told to get away from the congregation before divine judgment falls (eng 'get away', deu 'get-weg', hin 'utho', kor 'tteonara', spa 'Apartaos'). While etymologically related to 'being lifted up,' the pragmatic force is distinctly 'remove yourselves' or 'stand apart.' Korean tteonara ('leave!') and Spanish Apartaos ('separate yourselves!') confirm the separative rather than exaltative sense. 1×
