Torcer, pervertir o desviar; en Nifal, estar encorvado, distorsionado o moralmente torcido.
Verbo construido sobre la imagen de torcer o curvar lo que debería ser recto. En las formas Hifil y Piel describe la distorsión activa, ya sea moral o física: Elihú confiesa «lo recto yo lo torcí» (Job 33:27), Jeremías acusa a Israel de haber «torcido su camino» (Jer 3:21) e Isaías advierte que Dios «trastornará la faz» de la tierra (Is 24:1). En el Nifal expresa el estado resultante de estar doblado o deformado: el salmista clama «estoy encorvado» (Sal 38:6) y Proverbios advierte contra el de «corazón torcido» (Pr 12:8).
