Mattanah, an Israelite encampment site east of the Jordan during the wilderness journey
Mattanah was one of the stations where Israel camped during their journey from the wilderness toward Moab. Numbers 21 records it in the itinerary following the poetic Song of the Well, as the people moved through the Transjordan region before entering the plains of Moab. The name means 'gift,' possibly referring to some local feature. Like many wilderness stations, its exact location remains unknown, though it was clearly east of the Jordan in the approach to Canaan.
