N-proper-fs  |  2× in 1 sense
a town in Ammonite territory, mentioned in connection with Jephthah's campaign and the wheat trade with Tyre
Minnith appears twice in Scripture, first as a geographical marker for Jephthah's conquest of the Ammonites (Judges 11:33), and second in Ezekiel's oracle against Tyre, where the 'wheat of Minnith' is cited as a trade commodity (Ezekiel 27:17). The location was evidently known for grain production. According to Eusebius, it lay four Roman miles from Heshbon, though the exact site remains unknown. The dual attestation—military boundary and agricultural export—suggests Minnith was a notable settlement in the fertile Transjordanian highlands.

Senses
1. sense 1 A proper noun denoting a settlement in Ammonite territory east of the Jordan River. The Greek translations vary widely (Arnon, Semoeith, Semenaith), suggesting scribal uncertainty, but the Hebrew tradition is consistent. Ezekiel's mention of 'wheat of Minnith' alongside 'pannag' (a debated term) in the cargo list for Tyre confirms the region's agricultural reputation, echoed in the tribute of wheat from Ammon mentioned in 2 Chronicles 27:5.
