Nombre propio que aparece siempre con artículo (הַמַּכְפֵּלָה), designando el campo y la cueva cerca de Hebrón que Abraham compró a Efrón el hitita como sepultura familiar (Gn 23). El nombre pudo haber sido originalmente un apelativo que significaba 'la cueva doble'; la Septuaginta lo traduce como τὸ διπλοῦν, aunque esta etimología sigue siendo debatida.
