A term in Isaiah 14:4 traditionally rendered 'golden city' but emended by most scholars to mean 'fury' or 'arrogance.' The MT reads 'madhebah' but LXX and most modern versions read 'marhebah' (fury, raging). The context is a taunt against Babylon's king: 'How the oppressor has ceased, the fury/arrogance ceased!' This emendation creates better parallelism with 'oppressor' and fits the pattern of denouncing Babylon's violent pride. The Spanish 'la-arrogancia' reflects this emended reading.
