Verbo que denota un habla silenciosa y furtiva, ya sea como cuchicheo conspirativo o como los conjuros murmurados por encantadores de serpientes. El salmista compara a sus enemigos con serpientes que no responden al susurro de los encantadores. Los siervos de David cuchichean entre sí cuando sospechan que el niño ha muerto. Otro salmo describe a adversarios que murmuran planes malintencionados. La raíz sugiere comunicación en voz baja y sigilosa, generalmente con connotaciones negativas.
