Este sustantivo, variante dialectal del más común כַּעַס, aparece exclusivamente en la poesía de Job para describir angustia emocional, ya sea la vejación y aflicción humana o la ira divina. El término capta la irritación, frustración e indignación que produce el sufrimiento, como cuando Job suplica a Dios que comprenda su «aflicción» y angustia.
