Este verbo arameo, equivalente directo del hebreo יכל, expresa capacidad o habilidad. En los capítulos arameos de Daniel, aparece en contextos donde la sabiduría humana resulta insuficiente: los sabios no 'pueden' revelar el sueño de Nabucodonosor ni leer la escritura en la pared. La forma participial funciona casi como adjetivo, describiendo a alguien como 'capaz' de realizar una tarea, generalmente seguida de un infinitivo que especifica lo que pueden o no pueden hacer.
