Jezreelitess; a gentilicfeminine adjective denoting a woman from Jezreel
The feminine gentilic form of Jezreel, used exclusively as an epithet for Ahinoam, one of David's wives. Every occurrence follows the same formula: 'Ahinoam the Jezreelitess' (ha-Yizre'ēlîth). She first appears when David takes her as wife during his time among the Philistines (1 Sam 27:3), accompanies him through the Ziklag crisis (1 Sam 30:5), and is named at Hebron (2 Sam 2:2; 3:2). Spanish 'la jezreelita' and French 'la Jezreelite' both retain the gentilic construction faithfully.
