Ibleam: Manassite city in northern Israel
A city allocated to Manasseh in the Jezreel valley region, though located within Issachar's or Asher's territory. Ibleam appears in conquest accounts where Israel failed to drive out the Canaanite inhabitants. It also marks the location where King Ahaziah of Judah was mortally wounded while fleeing from Jehu. The city corresponds to Bileam in Chronicles' parallel list of Levitical cities. Its strategic location in the valley made it significant for controlling travel routes. The name's etymology remains uncertain, though it appears in Egyptian records from the second millennium BC.

Senses
1. sense 1 Ibleam, a city in Manasseh's territory within the Jezreel region. Joshua 17:11 lists it among Manasseh's towns in other tribes' territories. Judges 1:27 records Manasseh's failure to dispossess Ibleam's Canaanite inhabitants. 2 Kings 9:27 locates Ahaziah's fatal wounding 'at the ascent of Ibleam' during Jehu's coup. The city = Bileam in 1 Chronicles 6:55. Its strategic valley location made it militarily significant. Cross-linguistic transliterations (Spanish Ibleam/Yivleam, French/English Ibleam/Yivleam) maintain the proper name consistently.
