Yoshiyahu ('the LORD supports') was the king of Judah whose reign (640-609 BC) represents the last great spiritual revival before the Babylonian exile. His 53 occurrences span Kings, Chronicles, Jeremiah, and Zephaniah, tracing a remarkable narrative arc: crowned at age eight after his father Amon's assassination (2 Kgs 21:24-22:1), he launched sweeping religious reforms after the discovery of the Book of the Law in the Temple (2 Kgs 22:8-23:25), purging high places, destroying the altar at Bethel that had stood since Jeroboam's schism, and celebrating a Passover unequaled since the days of the judges.
