Huldah, the prophetess consulted during Josiah's reign
Huldah was a prophetess living in Jerusalem during the reign of King Josiah. When the book of the Law was discovered in the temple, Josiah sent a delegation to inquire of the Lord through her. Her prophetic oracle confirmed the coming judgment on Judah but promised that Josiah would die in peace before the disaster came. She is one of only a few women explicitly called a prophetess in the Hebrew Bible, and her authority was recognized by the king and high priest alike.
