N-proper-ms  |  10× in 1 sense
Dathan — a Reubenite rebel who, with Abiram, challenged Moses' authority and was swallowed by the earth.
Dathan, son of Eliab of the tribe of Reuben, is remembered as one of the principal rebels against Moses' leadership in the wilderness. Together with his brother Abiram and the Levite Korah, he challenged Moses' authority, famously refusing the summons with the defiant words 'We will not come up!' (Num 16:12). The dramatic divine judgment — the earth opening to swallow the rebels — is recalled in Deuteronomy 11:6 and celebrated in Psalm 106:17. The name is consistently transliterated across languages: Spanish 'Datan,' French 'Datan/Dathan,' German 'Datan,' confirming its singular referential identity.

Senses
1. Dathan The proper name Dathan (Hebrew datan), identifying a Reubenite, son of Eliab, who together with Abiram led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness (Num 16:1, 12). All ten occurrences refer to this single individual across the Korah narrative (Num 16:1-27), the genealogical recap (Num 26:9), and later retrospective references (Deut 11:6; Ps 106:17). The name appears with conjunctions ('and-Dathan') and prepositions ('for-Dathan') but always designates the same person. 10×
