Dimon, an alternate name for Dibon in Moab, used in Isaiah's oracle
Dimon is an alternate name for Dibon, a major Moabite city north of the Arnon River, appearing only in Isaiah's oracle against Moab. Isaiah uses 'Dimon' instead of the usual 'Dibon,' possibly for wordplay with 'dam' (blood), since the waters of Dimon are filled with blood. The city is the same as biblical Dibon, modern Dhiban, famous for the Moabite Stone discovery.
