To rise up, grow high, be exalted — of waters rising, plants growing, or God triumphing gloriously
A Qal verb (גָּאָה) meaning 'to rise up' or 'be exalted,' covering natural phenomena and divine triumph. Its most celebrated use is the Song of the Sea — 'I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously' (Exod 15:1, 21), where the cognate accusative construction גָּאֹה גָּאָה intensifies the verb into a shout of cosmic victory. Elsewhere the same verb describes rising waters in Ezekiel's temple river (Ezek 47:5) and rushes growing without water (Job 8:11), grounding divine exaltation in the observable world of things that surge upward.
