Describe el estado de estar separado, aislado o solitario. La forma participial transmite una imagen vívida de soledad: un leproso que habita apartado fuera del campamento (Lv 13:46), un ave solitaria sobre un tejado (Sal 102:7), un rezagado separado de las filas (Is 14:31) o Efraín comparado con un asno montés que vaga solo (Os 8:9). La raíz verbal se conecta con el sentido árabe de retiro y acción independiente, reflejando de manera constante aislamiento y separación.
