This term describes people who are feeble, weak, or powerless. In Nehemiah 4:2, enemies of the rebuilding project mockingly ask, 'What are these feeble Jews doing?' The insult targets the builders' perceived weakness and inability to complete the massive task of rebuilding Jerusalem's walls. The question drips with contempt—how can this weak, dispirited remnant possibly accomplish such a work? Nehemiah's response is to pray and continue building.
