Urim; los objetos sagrados de sorteo guardados en el pectoral del sumo sacerdote para obtener dirección divina.
Los Urim (plural de intensidad, posiblemente 'luces' o 'maldiciones') eran objetos sagrados colocados dentro del pectoral de juicio del sumo sacerdote, empleados para consultar la voluntad de Dios en decisiones cruciales. Aparecen junto con los Tumim como sistema oracular emparejado (Éx 28:30; Lv 8:8). Moisés encarga a Josué buscar dirección 'por el juicio de los Urim' mediante el sacerdote Eleazar (Nm 27:21). En tiempos de Saúl, los Urim habían enmudecido: Dios 'no le respondió, ni por sueños, ni por Urim, ni por profetas' (1 S 28:6). Su función era clara: consulta divina de tipo sí o no.
