Aaron (personal name)

Senses
1. Aaron (personal name) Proper masculine name of uncertain etymology. Aaron was the elder brother of Moses (Exod 7:7) and the first high priest of Israel. He served as Moses' spokesman before Pharaoh (Exod 4:14-16, 27-30), was consecrated with his sons for the priestly office (Exod 28-29; Lev 8-9), and led Israel's worship. Despite the golden calf incident (Exod 32) and his complaint with Miriam (Num 12), his rod budded as divine confirmation of his priestly selection (Num 17). He died on Mount Hor (Num 20:28; 33:38). Appears 347 times across Pentateuch, historical books, Psalms (106:16; 133:2), and Chronicles. Multilingual glosses uniformly render as Aaron/Aharon (arb: هَارُونُ, hin: हारून, kor: 아론). All auto-clusters are syntactic variants (with prepositions ל, ב, and conjunction ו) of the same name. 347×
