Iddo (personal name), an Israelite leader at Casiphia
The chief of the temple servants at Casiphia, whom Ezra contacted to secure Levites for the return to Jerusalem (Ezra 8:17, mentioned twice in the verse). When Ezra realized no Levites had volunteered for the journey, he sent messengers to Iddo requesting ministers for the house of God. Iddo responded by sending Sherebiah, a capable man, along with eighteen kinsmen. This Iddo oversaw a community of temple servants in exile, maintaining their identity and readiness to serve.
