sparingly, stingily, grudgingly
This adverb means sparingly, grudgingly, or in a stingy manner. Paul uses it twice in the same verse in 2 Corinthians to establish the principle of sowing and reaping: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, but whoever sows generously will reap generously. The word captures the tight-fisted, reluctant attitude in giving that limits both the gift and the eventual return.

Sentidos
1. sense 1 The adverb φειδομένως (from φείδομαι, 'spare, refrain') denotes sparing or grudging action. Both uses in 2 Cor 9:6 establish the agricultural metaphor for giving: 'The one sowing sparingly (φειδομένως) will also reap sparingly (φειδομένως), and the one sowing bountifully will reap bountifully.' The doubled adverb emphasizes the direct proportion: stingy sowing yields meager harvest, generous sowing yields abundant return.
