a glutton, one who eats excessively
This simple noun designates a glutton or excessive eater. Both Gospel uses appear in the same accusation Jesus quotes: his critics called him 'a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' The charge was false but revealed the religious establishment's contempt for Jesus' table fellowship with outcasts. Unlike John the Baptist's asceticism, Jesus' eating and drinking with sinners scandalized the self-righteous.

Sentidos
1. sense 1 The noun φάγος (from φαγεῖν, 'to eat') denotes a glutton. Both occurrences (Matt 11:19, Luke 7:34) quote the identical slander against Jesus: 'Behold, a glutton and drunkard' (φάγος καὶ οἰνοπότης)—contrasting him unfavorably with John's asceticism. The false accusation revealed critics' rejection: John was too austere (demon-possessed), Jesus too convivial (glutton). Either way, they refused God's messengers.
