Troas -- the port city of Alexandria Troas in northwest Asia Minor, key stop on Paul's journeys
Troas (full name Alexandria Troas) was a major Roman port city on the Aegean coast of the Troad region in northwest Asia Minor (modern Turkey). It served as the primary gateway between Asia and Macedonia and figures prominently in Paul's missionary travels. At Troas, Paul received the Macedonian vision calling him to Europe (Acts 16:8-10). He later returned there for a week-long stay during which Eutychus fell from a window (Acts 20:5-12). Paul also mentions leaving a cloak and parchments at Troas (2 Tim 4:13). The name passes unchanged through every language -- Spanish, French, German, and English all render it simply as Troas.

Senses
1. Troas (city) The proper geographical name for the port city of Alexandria Troas on the northwest coast of Asia Minor, a critical transit point between the Asian and European portions of the Roman Empire. Paul's pivotal Macedonian call vision occurred here (Acts 16:8-10), and he returned on subsequent journeys (Acts 20:5-6; 2 Cor 2:12; 2 Tim 4:13). All target languages -- Spanish Troas, French Troas, German Troas -- preserve the toponym unchanged, confirming a single proper-noun sense with no polysemy across all six New Testament occurrences.
