eye of a needle, a very small opening
In Mark 10:25, Jesus uses this striking image: it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter God's kingdom. The phrase denotes an impossibly small opening—perhaps the literal eye of a sewing needle, emphasizing the absurd difficulty. Some later interpreters tried to soften the saying by inventing a 'Needle Gate' in Jerusalem, but the point is radical impossibility apart from God's intervention. Jesus intends the shock value: wealth presents enormous spiritual obstacles that only divine power can overcome.

Sentidos
1. sense 1 Jesus' hyperbolic comparison employs this term to emphasize the spiritual danger of riches. The eye of a needle represents the smallest imaginable opening, creating an image of impossibility when paired with a camel, the largest domestic animal in Palestine. The multilingual evidence—Spanish 'ojo', French 'trou', German 'Nadelöhr'—all convey a tiny aperture. The disciples' astonished response ('Then who can be saved?') shows they grasped the shocking difficulty Jesus described. His answer shifts hope to God's power: what is humanly impossible becomes possible through divine grace and intervention.
