tomb, grave, burial place
1. tomb, grave, burial place A burial site or sepulchre, referring to a rock-cut tomb or grave where the dead are laid. Universally consistent across all target languages: Spanish 'sepulcro/tumba,' Hindi 'kabr/kabron,' Arabic 'qabr/qubur,' Korean 'mudeom,' Swahili 'kaburi.' The two original clusters differ only in grammatical number (singular N-GMS/N-AMS/N-NMS vs plural N-DMP/N-AMP), not in semantic content. Used both for individual tombs (e.g., Christ's tomb) and whitewashed tombs as a metaphor for hypocrisy (Matt 23:27), but the referent remains a physical burial place in every occurrence.
