bring to completion, finish; be fulfilled, reach completion; accomplish, establish (covenant)
1. bring to completion, finish To bring something to its end or completion, actively completing a task, period, or set of actions. This covers the active uses of συντελέω: completing the temptation period (Lk 4:2 συντελεσθεισῶν, the days having been completed), finishing all temptations (Lk 4:13 συντελέσας, having completed), and the Lord completing and cutting short his word on earth (Rom 9:28 συντελῶν). The multilingual glosses uniformly point to active finishing: Arabic أَتَمَّ/انتَهَت, German vollenden, Hebrew מַשְׁלִים/סִיֵּם/נִשְׁלְמוּ, Korean 마치다, French achever, Spanish terminando/habiendo terminado.

2. be fulfilled, reach completion To be fulfilled or reach completion, used in the passive/middle voice of prophetic events, appointed times, or ritual periods reaching their destined conclusion. In Mk 13:4, the disciples ask when 'all these things are about to be fulfilled' (συντελεῖσθαι), and in Acts 21:27, the seven days of purification were 'about to be completed' (συντελεῖσθαι). The glosses reflect passive fulfillment: Arabic أَنْ تَتِمَّ/أَنْ تَكْتَمِلَ, Hebrew לְהִשְׁתַּלֵּם/לְהִשְׁלֵם, Korean 이루어지려고/끝나려 할 때에, Spanish de cumplirse.

3. accomplish, establish (covenant) To accomplish or bring into effect a covenant or solemn divine agreement, used of God's eschatological act of establishing the new covenant. In Heb 8:8, God declares 'I will accomplish (συντελέσω) a new covenant with the house of Israel.' The Hebrew gloss אֶכְרֹת (I will cut) directly echoes the covenantal idiom כָּרַת בְּרִית (cut a covenant), showing this is not mere completion of a task but the solemn ratification of a divine agreement. Spanish consumaré and Korean 마치리라 similarly carry weight beyond ordinary finishing.
