To embrace, take into one's arms; to clasp affectionately
To throw one's arms around someone, to embrace affectionately. In Acts 20:10, Paul 'embraced' the young man Eutychus after he fell from a window during Paul's lengthy sermon and was taken up dead. The embrace is both diagnostic (Paul assessing whether life had returned) and comforting (a gesture of care and reassurance). Classical uses included literal embracing and metaphorical inclusion of ideas within a framework. Luke's narrative uses the gesture to signal the miracle: Paul's embrace accompanies his announcement 'his life is in him.'
Sentidos
1. sense 1 — Paul's physical embrace of Eutychus following the young man's fatal fall and miraculous restoration. The gesture combines assessment, comfort, and intimacy. Spanish 'abrazándolo' (embracing him), French 'embrasser' (embrace), German simply transcribes the Greek. The embrace signals both Paul's compassion and his confidence in God's restorative power. Like Elijah and Elisha in similar stories, Paul's bodily contact marks the moment of life returning. 1×
