Adj-AMP  |  2× in 1 sense
conformed to, having the same form or shape as something
This adjective describes conformity in form or shape to a pattern or prototype. Romans 8:29 speaks of believers being conformed to the image of God's Son, expressing the divine purpose of transformation. Philippians 3:21 describes Christ transforming our lowly bodies to be conformed to his glorious body. Both passages envision a radical transformation into Christlikeness, body and character.

Senses
1. sense 1 Indicates sharing the same form, shape, or nature as something else, particularly being shaped to match a prototype. The cross-lingual evidence (Spanish 'conforme,' French 'conforme,' German 'gleichgestaltet') emphasizes the result of conforming rather than the process. In both NT occurrences, believers are being conformed to Christ—his character (Rom 8:29) and his resurrection body (Phil 3:21)—expressing the goal of Christian transformation.
