Ciudad, pueblo; asentamiento urbano habitado, ya sea nombrado o genérico
Πόλις es la palabra griega estándar para ciudad o pueblo, y en el Nuevo Testamento ancla el marco geográfico de la narrativa evangélica. Jesús llora sobre Jerusalén como πόλις (Mt 23:37), nace en la πόλις de Belén (Lc 2:4) y enseña por las ciudades de Galilea (Mt 9:35). La palabra también porta un peso escatológico en Hebreos 11:10 y Apocalipsis 21:2, donde la ciudad celestial se convierte en la morada definitiva de Dios con la humanidad.
