Parmenas, one of the seven chosen in Acts 6
A personal name meaning 'constant' or 'steadfast'. Acts 6:5 lists Parmenas among the seven men chosen to serve tables and care for widows in the Jerusalem church. The selection required being full of the Spirit and wisdom. Though Scripture tells us nothing more about Parmenas's ministry, his inclusion among the seven marks him as a trusted early leader who helped solve the Hellenist-Hebrew tension that threatened church unity.
