The indeclinable proper name Noe (from Hebrew noach, meaning 'rest' or 'comfort') appears eight times across the NT, always pointing to the patriarch of the flood narrative. Jesus cites Noah's days as a paradigm for the unexpected arrival of the Son of Man (Matt 24:37-38, Luke 17:26-27). The author of Hebrews holds Noah up as a model of faith who acted on divine warning (Heb 11:7), while Peter calls him a 'preacher of righteousness' and uses the ark as a type of baptismal salvation (1 Pet 3:20, 2 Pet 2:5).
