Este verbo aparece en Hechos 28:6, donde se describe cómo los nativos de Malta 'cambiaron de opinión' sobre Pablo al ver que no sufría ningún daño por la mordedura de la víbora. Al principio esperaban que se hinchara y muriera, concluyendo que debía ser un asesino a quien la justicia perseguía incluso después de escapar del mar. Cuando nada malo le sucedió, cambiaron su juicio al extremo opuesto, declarando que debía ser un dios. El término denota revertir una posición u opinión. El incidente muestra cuán rápidamente el juicio humano puede oscilar entre extremos, aunque Pablo aparentemente redirigió ese asombro supersticioso hacia la proclamación del Dios verdadero.
