Injuriar, ultrajar verbalmente; insultar con lenguaje áspero y despectivo.
Λοιδορέω describe el acto de lanzar insultos y ultrajes verbales contra alguien — no una crítica casual, sino un vituperio agudo y despectivo. En el NT aparece en contextos de hostilidad injusta: los fariseos injurian al ciego de nacimiento por seguir a Jesús (Jn 9:28), Pablo es amonestado por ultrajar al sumo sacerdote (Hch 23:4), y tanto Pablo como Cristo soportan injurias sin represalia (1 Co 4:12; 1 Pe 2:23). La respuesta de Cristo — siendo injuriado, no injuriaba a su vez — se convirtió en paradigma de la no represalia cristiana.

1. Injuriar verbalmente — Ultrajar con palabras, lanzar insultos despectivos contra alguien. Los fariseos injurian al ciego sanado por ser discípulo de Jesús (Jn 9:28); Pablo es reprendido por ultrajar inadvertidamente al sumo sacerdote (Hch 23:4). En 1 Co 4:12 Pablo responde a la injuria con bendición, y 1 Pe 2:23 presenta a Cristo como modelo: «cuando le injuriaban, no respondía con injuria». 4×
