1. shine, give light To shine, gleam, or radiate light. Used of the transfigured face of Jesus shining like the sun (Matt 17:2 elampsen), of a light shining in a prison cell when an angel appeared (Acts 12:7 elampsen), of God who commanded light to shine out of darkness now shining in believers' hearts (2 Cor 4:6 elampsen and lampsei), of lightning that flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other (Luke 17:24 lampei), of a lamp that shines for all in a house (Matt 5:15 lampei), and in the imperative 'let your light shine before men' (Matt 5:16 lampsato).
