Obtener por suerte, recibir por asignación divina; ser escogido o designado mediante sorteo o reparto providencial.
Verbo arraigado en la práctica griega de repartir porciones mediante el sorteo. En el uso clásico significaba obtener lo que a uno le corresponde —tierra, cargo o herencia— por la caída de la suerte. El NT conserva este sentido concreto en Lc 1:9, donde a Zacarías le tocó por suerte quemar incienso, y en Jn 19:24, donde los soldados echan suertes sobre la túnica de Jesús. Pero el vocablo se extiende también al reparto divino: en Hch 1:17 Judas había «obtenido parte» en el ministerio apostólico, y en 2 Pe 1:1 los creyentes han «alcanzado una fe» de igual valor. El español echar suerte refleja fielmente el núcleo del sorteo.
