camel
1. camel The noun κάμηλος referring to the domesticated camel, used both in the 'camel through the eye of a needle' proverb (Matt 19:24; Mark 10:25; Luke 18:25) and in descriptions of John the Baptist's clothing made of camel hair (Matt 3:4; Mark 1:6). Also used in Jesus's saying about straining out a gnat but swallowing a camel (Matt 23:24). All three clusters represent the same animal referent with identical multilingual translations: eng 'camel', spa 'camello', hin ऊंट/ऊँट/ओओन्त, arb جَمَلٌ/الْإِبِلِ, kor 낙타, swa 'ngamia'. The clusters differ only in grammatical case (accusative vs genitive), not meaning.
