Callar, descansar, guardar silencio; cesar de actividad o de hablar, aquietarse
Verbo que significa guardar silencio, descansar del trabajo o dejar de hablar. Abarca tanto el reposo físico como el cese de la palabra o la oposición. Cuando los discípulos 'callaron' ante la obra evidente de Dios (Hch 11:18, 21:14), el término transmite una aquiescencia reverente más que simple mudez. Pablo incluso lo prescribe como estilo de vida: 'aspirad a vivir tranquilamente' (1 Ts 4:11). El español capta este abanico con 'callaron' (enmudecieron) junto a 'estar quietos' (reposar), mostrando el doble eje de silencio y quietud propio de esta palabra.
