Zebulun; tribal name of Jacob's tenth son and his descendants
Zebulun (Hebrew Zevulun) is the personal and tribal name of Jacob's tenth son through Leah. In the New Testament the name appears in prophetic fulfillment (Matthew 4:13, 15) regarding Jesus' ministry in Galilee—'the land of Zebulun'—and in the tribal sealing vision of Revelation 7:8. The tribe settled in lower Galilee, making Jesus' ministry there a fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy about light dawning on this region.
