Izquierdo, del lado izquierdo; termino eufemistico que originalmente significaba 'de buen nombre', usado en el NT solo para posicion espacial.
Euonymos es uno de los grandes eufemismos del griego. Literalmente significa 'de buen nombre', y se usaba para evitar el mal augurio de decir 'izquierdo', ya que ese lado se consideraba de mala suerte. Para la epoca del NT, el origen eufemistico se habia desvanecido y simplemente significaba 'izquierdo'. Sus nueve apariciones se concentran en la peticion de asientos de honor junto a Jesus (Mt 20:21,23; Mc 10:37,40), la separacion en el juicio final (Mt 25:33,41) y la posicion de los crucificados junto a Jesus (Mt 27:38; Mc 15:27).
